The Kristu Jyoti Group of schools – owned by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) congregation of the St. Joseph’s Province, Thiruvananthapuram, was started as an unaided recognised school in 1982. The founding leader of the Congregation was St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara who started the first Catholic Sanskrit School in Kerala in 1846 and the first primary school in 1864. Over the years, the consistently outstanding academic record in the SSLC examination and achievements in co-curricular activities of the Kristu Jyoti Schools have made it one of the most reputed schools in the State.
The competency and resources of the Kristu Jyoti Management in running the educational institution with the help of efficient staffs, and co-operation from students and the PTA, have enabled Kristu Jyoti to expand into a group of schools consisting of Kristu Jyoti Higher Secondary School, Kristu Jyoti Kindergarten and Play School , Placid Vidya Vihar Senior Secondary School, Kristu Jyoti Vidya Niketan and Kristu Jyoti College of Management & Technology.
KRISTU JYOTI KINDERGARTEN & PLAYSCHOOL
An innovative venture, the Kristu Jyoti Kindergarten and Play School is housed in a sprawling 2 storey building that combines both modern and traditional elements of architecture. A square building, with rooms on four sides and a spacious courtyard in the middle that converts into an amphitheatre for assemblies and other events, the Kristu Jyoti kindergarten is one of its kind. A 20 ft long mural of Jesus being carried in a palanquin by children that adorns both sides of the stage in the amphitheatre lends a sacred atmosphere to the campus.
Spacious rooms, vividly painted walls supported by pillars engraved with Egyptian symbols, curved archways and uniquely designed interiors are the hallmarks of this building. Apart from classrooms and child-customized bathrooms, the building also has a rest room and recreation hall for children and a parents’ waiting lounge. Grazed tile flooring, a dust free atmosphere, excellent cleaning and maintenance etc. provide a healthy and hygienic environment to the children.
Emblem
Children bring laughter and joy to the world. Their innocence, sense of wonder and penchant of looking at everything and everyone without guile and malice makes the world smile back at them. Their curious and imaginative minds are not bound by the limits of knowledge and have the ability to conquer the world. Our emblem signifies this ability and scope of the children to make the world a better place.
Our motto ‘khel ki duniya jeet hamari’ exemplifies the true spirit of the child. Play is the quite essential activity of children. Through play, children create a new world , and try on every imaginable situation within it. In the course of play their growth in all areas is stimulated – physically, emotionally , socially, mentally and spiritually.
